THINGS TO DO AS A JUNIOR
- Build strong academic, language, mathematics and critical thinking skills by taking challenging courses.
- Run for leadership positions in the clubs and student organizations that you are currently involved in. College admissions officers want student leaders.
- Work your hardest and earn the best grades you've had so far in high school. Colleges want to see upward trends in your transcript.
- Strengthen your vocabulary by increasing your readin.
- Study for state and standardized tests.
- Spend time with your teacher. Your current teachers might be the ones writing recommendations for college applications.
- Become involved in co-curricular activities.
- Browse through college literature or surf the Internet to get an idea of what kinds of schools may be of interest to you.
- Check out what high school courses colleges require.
